As we say goodbye to the "Naughties" and move into 2010, Blaydon Liberal Democrats are wishing everyone a very happy New Year. "The last decade has been a missed opportunity for Blaydon constituency" commented Liberal Democrat Prospective MP Neil Bradbury.
"Labour has had 12 years to deliver on promises for increased economic fortunes for Blaydon and the North East. Instead we see an area with higher unemployment figures than have been experienced for decades and a widening gap between the rich and the poor. Labour has let the area down badly but the new year offers a fresh start with elections for Gateshead Council and Parliament in the new year."
Blaydon constituency faces a straight choice between Gordon Browns Labour candidate and Neil Bradburys Liberal Democrats. The Conservatives have no councillors in the area and came a poor third in the last general election in the constituency.
